Catherine was born and raised just outside Pittsburgh, PA. She received her B.A. in Chemistry from Bryn Mawr College. While there, she researched the synthesis and reactivity of molybdenum cofactor model complexes under Dr. Sharon Burgmayer. In 2022, she began her studies at UW-Madison and joined the Berry lab that December.
In the Berry group, Catherine focuses on small electronic modifications for second generation ammonia oxidation electrocatalysts. She also is involved in various side projects, including RuRuM HEMACs and post-synthetic ligand modifications.
Due to her passion for science writing and outreach, she also completed the Life Science Communication graduate minor at UW – Madison. She is also a Science News Associate Editor at The Badger Herald and a member of the GSFLC outreach committee. Outside of the lab, she enjoys going to the gym, hiking, playing ultimate frisbee, and travelling.
